Whilst the industry is constantly changing (for better or worse), it has consistently provided lots of new opportunities for both individuals and businesses.

Social Media is a free marketing channel. In other words, to get your posts out there, there aren’t any fees. Of course, Social Media Marketing requires time, but I don’t think there is a marketing strategy in the universe that doesn’t require time and/or investment to get started. Why? ‘Small Businesses’ as a term encompasses a wide range of organisations, their similarity simply being their size. A niche professional services business and a local cocktail bar are both small businesses, but their Social Media strategies, and marketing priorities, shouldn’t be the same.

In our experience, we’ve found most Social Media Marketing success with small businesses in the following sectors:

  • Hospitality
  • Health and Beauty
  • Food and Beverage
  • Leisure

These industries tend to have great success on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. So, for them, a presence on these platforms is more important.

B2B businesses, on the other hand, tend to find more success on LinkedIn. This is because this is a platform that is home to thought leadership content and users are typically in work mode.
